Welcome...

We are Dave Goldschmidt and Deanna Fox. We met during the summer of 2006 and quickly fell in love, even if we didn't tell each other right away.

Breaking News

Edith Caroline Goldschmidt was born on December 9, 2008. Click here for pictures.

Hello from Dave...

Dave grew up in Windsor, Connecticut. He attended the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, then went to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) to major in Computer Science and minor in both German and Electrical Engineering.

At RPI, he pledged the Theta Xi Fraternity and remains an active Theta Xi alum today. He remained at RPI to earn his Masters degree and Ph.D., both in Computer Science, for which he is most grateful to his advisor, Moorthy (who is an avid juggler and π reciter).

Dave is currently Assistant Professor of Computer Science at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York. He also serves as Adjunct Professor at RPI, sometimes teaching a course in Java, Programming Languages, or Software Engineering.

He enjoys playing basketball and tennis, reading, and solving crossword puzzles (which is actually part of his Ph.D. dissertation). He also writes and edits books for children and aims to have his first book published very soon. Look for his name in your local bookstore!

Hi from Deanna...

Growing up an only child in South Otselic, New York, Deanna's first word was "Hi." She graduated from the Otselic Valley Central School District, then attended The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York.

As a "Rosebud," Deanna double-majored in History and Political Science, earning her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in only three-and-a-half years.

She now works in Governmental and Public Relations, hoping someday to contribute to society from a political office. Someday she will be President!

Deanna enjoys drawing, painting, pottery, music, and baking (much to the joy of Dave's sweet tooth). She also enjoys volunteering and is a member of several community organizations in the Capital District and internationally.

Our story...

We met in the summer of 2006 at Peaches Café in Albany, New York. Deanna was working as a waitress while finishing her degree, and Dave starting coming in on a regular basis. Deanna thought he frequented the restaurant because of the pancakes, cooked just the way he liked them (flat and burnt), but it was actually because Deanna was there.

Deanna called Dave "Professor Pancake" until he decided to introduce himself. After talking and getting to know one other, Dave got over his shyness and went on a date with Deanna in January 2007. By March, we had decided to get married. Dave asked Deanna one very late night if she would spend the rest of her life with him. Of course, the answer was yes.

In May, Deanna moved into Dave's Albany apartment. We traveled almost every weekend, Deanna in anticipation of a "proper proposal." Labor Day 2007 came around, and we traveled to Mystic, Connecticut. While there, Dave got down on one knee and asked Deanna to marry him. As he asked, vintage ships sailed into Mystic Seaport as the sun set over the water.

Almost nine months later, on May 29, 2008, we were married at the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, New York. Our wedding was perfect, a small private event with our parents on a perfect day.

More about us...

We share many interests, including playing guitar, entertaining and having parties, spending time with friends and family, traveling, and sometimes picking on each other.

Together, we have traveled to many places, but our favorites so far are Montréal, Boston, Cape Cod, anywhere with a beach, and, of course, our honeymoon in the United Kingdom.

We have plans to travel back to Europe, as well as California and more New England beaches. In the meanwhile, we're busy restoring and remodeling our new (old) house.

Our home...

We bought our home in March of 2008, naming it the Silly Goose Farm.

Located in Delanson, New York, about 20 minutes west of Albany, our home was built in the 1880s and sits on 18 acres.

Our orchard...

Our property was originally part of a larger farm. Much of it was once an apple orchard. Many apple trees remain, producing plenty of fruit (at least for the deer that frequent our pastures).

Deanna's family has an old cider press, which we hope to bring out to our farm and mill some cider for our next party.

Our barn...

The original barn is still intact, though we don't have any farm animals to fill it yet (unless you count a bunch of barn cats and some bats).

Our pets...

In addition to a whole bunch of barn cats that live with us, we have two shy dogs, Bella and Beemer. They're our four-year-old mutts, rescues from the Smoky Mountains of West Virginia. Thank you, Melinda, for rescuing these two!

We're expecting...

Soon we'll be welcoming a new member into our family. We're expecting out first child, a baby girl, in early December 2008!

Her name will be Edith, so we can call her Edie, for short. And even though her due date is December 4, we have a feeling she's going to be a Thanksgiving baby.

Edie is here! So we were wrong about a Thanksgiving baby. She's more of a Christmas goose! She was born on December 9, 2008. Click here for pictures.

The future...

There's no doubt we're happy, lucky, and very much in love.

Thank you for checking out our Web site. Enjoy!

And please sign our guestbook.
